Ill always remember
Those late afternoons
It lasted forever but ended so soon
You are all by yourself
Staring at the gray sky, I was changed.
In places no one will find
And your feelings deep inside
Was there I realized
That forever in your eyes
The moment I saw u cry
It was late in September and I have seen u before,
You are always the cold one but I was never that sure
I wanted to hold you
I wanted to make it go away
I wanted to know u
I wanted to make your everything, all right

Chand ne kuch kaha
The last night of the year witnessed a full moon bigger and brighter than in the recent times. It was followed by a lunar eclipse but I am sure many like me did make a point to look up to the sky and admire the beauty of nature. With another decade coming to an end; everything which was new in the year 2k is old and revamped now. Similarly the onset of the 21st century brought its own trends with itself. One thing which has not been heard of in the last decade is our very own Doordarshan.
This full moon reminded me of the most loved Indian tales of “Vikram and Betaal.” I think most of us in our twenties have seen them ardently. Episode after episode it became a huge favorite. There was one episode where Betaal spoke about the most popular competition amongst princesses. Who was the most delicate princess, an honor for a princess to win the title.
“Mirror, mirror, tell me all who is the most delicate of them all?” The competition then started with each princess having to tell her plight. The first one said, “Once I came out in the moonlight and it left a scar on my face”; the second one claimed to have lost her eyesight to the moonlight. The third claimed, “I could not sleep the whole night because of so much light even when I was inside my room”. The competition went on and my thoughts kept dancing in my head. No more princesses in the country to compete. No more stories of Vikram and Betaal for us.
The moon light left me nostalgic with the thoughts of more stories from the past and Hindi movie songs. May the moon shine bright for every night in the New Year, may all problems and worries go eclipsed.
